SUPPORTING DYSLEXIC ADULTS TO THRIVE IN EUROPEAN SOCIETY

We are an organisation of like minded dyslexia experts that aim to map the situation of dyslexic adults around Europe, create awareness of adult dyslexia in our society and help them to reach their full potential.

Mapping

We want to create insight into the lived experience of adults with dyslexia in European society. What are issues they face in live and, most of all, in the work place.

Awareness

We want to create awareness among policymakers and other stakeholders involved of what dyslexia is, how it affects adult life and how to make the most of it for all of us.

Support

We want to support adults with dyslexia as well as companies around Europe to create a dyslexia friendly environment where the individuals can thrive and reach their full potential.

Policy Makers

One of the aims of our group is to investigate and ‘record’ the current situation regarding Dyslexia and Adults in different countries all over Europe. This has been developing during the last four years when the group started, and it is important that new countries have been joining along the way.

We have conducted research, via a questionnaire, into the lived experience of dyslexic people across Europe. The results of this research will be analysed by early spring 2024, and a report done. This will then be forwarded to the European Union and National Governments in order to give insight into the sensitive issue of Dyslexia and Adults in the workplace. Thereby, assisting policy makers to start building a Pan European framework, which will support Adults with Dyslexia throughout Europe?

Adults with Dyslexia

Our website focuses on Adults with Dyslexia, bearing in mind that neither the support nor the resources related to the specific needs of this age group have been adequately considered, to date. We believe that visiting our website, Adults with Dyslexia (link): will provide interesting articles, events, information on assessment, support, and advice. Needless to say, how important it is for us to receive feedback on our material and suggestions, relevant articles, and any other material that could be of value for the content of this website and the aims of our group.

Professionals

We consider that different types of professionals in the field of both Dyslexia expertise and businesses, for instance HR managers, line managers, school directors, health care providers, will be interested in finding out more about our work; primarily, the research into Dyslexia in the Workplace, and the main issues Adults with Dyslexia have been facing. The first findings of an earlier smaller scale research held by the European Dyslexia Group members in 2022 showed serious problems even revealing a working individual’s learning difference for fear of being exposed or even losing their job. This situation should be addressed soon, and one of our aims is to work hard towards this outcome.
